Project Overview
This project involved the construction of a bespoke three-bedroom residence in Tzaneen, Limpopo, commissioned by a private client. The home was carefully designed to respond to the site’s steep natural gradient while maintaining clean architectural lines and a practical, well-considered internal layout.
A key aspect of the design was the strategic use of the site’s elevation to maximise views and enhance indoor–outdoor integration. The split-level configuration was developed to accommodate the natural slope, allowing the structure to sit comfortably within its environment. The upper level was dedicated to three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, while the lower level comprised an open-plan living area incorporating the kitchen, dining room, lounge, and braai space. This arrangement ensured both functional flow and clear spatial separation between private and communal areas.
The home is founded on engineer-designed reinforced concrete strip foundations, providing structural stability on the sloping terrain. Roofing solutions included a combination of suspended concrete slabs and corrugated metal sheeting, carefully integrated to support both structural performance and architectural expression. Internal finishes included solid timber doors and frames, plastered ceilings throughout, and plastered and painted wall finishes. Aluminium-framed external doors and windows were installed to enhance durability and complement the home’s contemporary aesthetic. Timber pergolas were incorporated in selected outdoor areas to provide shading and strengthen the connection between interior and exterior living spaces.
The project was completed within a six-month construction period, delivered on time and within budget. The result is a durable, well-structured residence that successfully reflects the client’s lifestyle requirements while remaining true to the architectural intent of the design
